Washable bed pads
Arelle’s washable bed pads offer extra confidence and protection at night for those affected by light to heavy incontinence. For those with an on-going condition, washable bed pads are cheaper than disposable alternatives. They do not add to the amount of waste you throw away so this may also represent a cost saving and a benefit to the environment.
These washable bed pads are available with and without tuck-in flaps. They are made from polyester fabric on top with a viscose felt padding within. This has rapid absorption qualities. The bottom fabric is waterproof and helps to keep the pad in place. The pad without flaps is 70cm x 85cm and is made in the UK. The pad with tuck-in flaps is slightly larger (88 x 91cm) with generously sized (50cm) flaps for securing on a single bed. We also offer a double bed sized version of this pad.
Arelle bed pads can be laid above or below the sheet. The special backing holds the pad in place without creasing or becoming uncomfortable. Depending on your condition you can use Arelle bed pads without body-worn pads. This can help to prevent skin problems.
Arelle bed pads can be washed in your washing machine and tumble dried. We recommend that you buy three: one in use, one in the wash and one ready to use. We also recommend that you wash the pad before use as this will enhance its absorption.
An average bladder holds about 550ml of urine and almost all bed pads will have absorbency rating much greater than that. The tests that produce absorbency figures take no account of the sudden rush of urine that is the feature of many types of incontinence. Our high quality bed pads absorb quickly.
Having absorbed the urine pads should retain it when you move. Arelle pads wick water away from your skin so you remain comfortable even after the pad has been used. Finally, a bed pad should be comfortable. We all move in our sleep so as well as being leakproof the lower layer of the pad of Arelle pads grips the sheet so that the pad stays flat and does not crease.
