With over 20 years in business, we’ve seen a lot of incontinence products come and go over the years!
We know that having complete confidence in the products you buy is one of the most important buying considerations for our customers. That’s why Arelle is so selective about the range of products we sell and recommend to you.
We’re proud that our advice and knowledge are so highly valued by individuals at home, carers and other healthcare professionals and companies. This has resulted in a loyal community of mail-order customers and a growing community of online purchasers.
In this month’s blog, we share what are, in our opinion, some of the best incontinence products of 2022 … Read on to find out more about our top recommendations!
Best Product for Men and Women with Light/Stress and Moderate Incontinence
Call us biased, but we LOVE the Arelle washable brief!
We’ve worked long and hard to develop a product which is a comfortable and dignified way to manage light to moderate incontinence and can even replace normal underwear.
The gusset features either a highly absorbent mini or midi pad with a waterproof lining. The men’s design differs slightly with a fly style opening.
Importantly, a washable product reduces waste and is kinder to the environment.
– Available in sizes XS to XXL (4XL for the midi)
– Absorbs up to 120 ml (mini) 250ml (midi)
– 95% cotton 5% elastane
– Machine or hand washable, and can be tumble dried
– Made in the UK
– Cost-saving when you buy a pack of 3
Best Stretch Brief
We stock a wide range of stretch briefs, or pants to hold pads, in unisex and male options. These are great for improving the performance of the pad and enhancing your comfort.
Stretch incontinence briefs come in washable and semi-disposable options (these last multiple washes and are available in XS to bariatric sizes).
Our best seller, which we highly recommend is the quality washable stretch brief Abri-Fix Leaf, by Abena:
– Available in sizes S to XXL
– Made of breathable micro-fibre
– Shaped to make a comfortable close fit
– Seamless to prevent pressure marks and skin irritation
– Wider gusset and extra elasticity to support the pad in the best possible way
– Offers optimum security against leakage
Best Disposable Briefs for Moderate/Severe Incontinence
Our favourite product is by far and away the Abena Abri-Flex pull up pants.
They are a best seller for a reason – they deliver on all levels: easy to fit, thin, snug, discreet and dignified. They have a unique 3D DualCore® that ensures absorption precisely where it is needed, and an extremely soft breathable backing which covers the entire pad, not just the absorption area.
– Available in sizes XS to XL3
– In 3 absorbency levels, including one suitable for night use
– Easy to fit and remove
– Wetness indicator advises carers that the pants need changing
Best Disposable Pads for Light/Moderate/Severe Incontinence
With so many pads on the market, it’s really hard for a new customer to know which is best.
Our recommended pad is the Abena Abri-San, a high-spec shaped incontinence pad ensuring maximum comfort, absorbency and, most importantly, protection against leakage.
The materials used are fully breathable and latex-free; the super-soft textile-like back sheet makes the pad noiseless and keeps your skin healthier. There is also an adhesive strip to hold the pad firmly in place:
– Available in 6 absorbencies and one to manage faecal incontinence
– Available in a range of sizes including one for larger forms
– Absorbs quickly so skin stays drier and the risk of leakage is reduced
– More anti-leakage barriers extend to the edge of the pad
– Latex-free elastication ensures a snug fit
Best Incontinence Product for Men
There are various options for specific products for men, but one we think performs particularly well is the Abena Abri-Man Shaped Pad.
Featuring leakage barriers, an air-plus breathable back sheet along with a shape that has been adapted to ensure a secure fit, this T-shaped pad can absorb up to 700ml and it gets great feedback from our customers.
– Micro punctured top sheet incorporating stay dry technology to keep you dry and promote skin health
– Inner core has a channel system to provide fast dispersion of liquid
– Outer layer is a soft, breathable fabric
– Leakage barriers and odour control for your comfort and confidence
– Adhesive strip holds the pad securely within close-fitting underwear
– Free samples are available!
Best Incontinence Bed Pad
The feedback we get on our washable incontinence bed pads is incredible!
In single and double sizes, with tuck-in flaps and without, these offer super comfort and night-time confidence. With polyester fabric on top, waterproof underneath, and a viscose felt padding within for rapid absorption qualities – a special backing helps keep the pad in place on top of your sheet.
If you want cost savings as well as a comfy alternative to a disposable bed pad, this is it:
– Available in single and double sizes
– Available with flaps to tuck in or without flaps
– Ideal for adults and children
– Washing machine and tumble dryer friendly
– Made in the UK.
Best Skincare Product for Incontinence
Caring for sensitive skin is such an important part of managing incontinence, which is why we offer a full range of products.
It’s hard to single any one out, as they fulfil a different range of needs, but if pushed, we think we have to give a special mention to the Abena Intimate Wash.
This is a truly mild soap formulated for intimate areas of the body and is so gentle it can be used on children or the very elderly. It’s unperfumed, uncoloured, dermatologically tested and very easy to rinse off. 10 out of 10 from us!
– Supplied in a handy 200ml travel size or an economical 500ml pump dispenser
– Gentle yet effective cleansing for sensitive, irritated or delicate skin
– pH3.5 makes it suitable for children
– Asthma and allergy-tested
– Manufactured by Danish company Abena to high standards of care for its users and the environment.
